The Inland Empire Mustang Horse Club would like to invite you to come for a ride with us on Saturday, September 11, at Heyburn State Park. Foot in the stirrup at 10AM, bring a lunch and we'll eat along the trail. Go to this link and click on the "Maps and Directions" tab in the center of the page if you want to know how to get there or what the trails are like. parksandrecreation.idaho.gov/parks/heyburn.aspxAnyone can come along, you don't have to ride a mustang.

What are the trails like there? Quality & difficulty level would determine which horse I brought.

I wish I didn't have to volunteer or hadn't already volunteered at the Shriners booth for the fair, I would love to go on this ride.

I'm not sure, but I've sent an email to one of our club members who has ridden there. I'll let you know when I hear back.
Looking at the map it looks like there's one water crossing and the elevation goes from 2700 to 2250 to 3000 feet, so there is some climbing but I'm having trouble picturing if that's a lot of climbing or not. I'm not sure how long the ride will be but I'm guessing we'll do the 6 mile loop if not more.

Here's some info I got today, will give you more if I get it: "I haven't ridden there for a couple of years but some of the trails are pretty close with brush on the sides, As I recall there is a couple of creeks, I think the trail we rode before was about 3 hrs.."
I hope some of you can come!

Unless something else comes up, I'll be there with my Friesian mare, Zoraja.

I am thinking this ride may end up being cancelled. Our club leader is in the hospital. She's been known to bounce back really fast, she's one tough lady, but I'm not sure if we'll still have the ride or not.
Just wanted to keep everyone aware that they should check this thread before going.
Alexa - maybe they'll plan something closer to home before winter sets in...
