So, I ruined the transmission in my Ford F150 -- probably by hauling horses. DH has a new job and he's feeling pretty good about his future, so at the dealership someone traded in a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 3/4 ton, and we were able to pick it up for a really good price.
Only problem is that it's lifted -- so I can't haul anything until I get a new stinger with the ball dropped down 6 inches or so. The ones we've seen at the auto parts store are only rated for 5000 pounds, which isn't safe. My trailer alone weighs almost 3000 -- add a couple of big quarter horses and we'd be over.
So, I guess I'll take the truck to Huber and see if they can fix me up, but does anyone have any other good places in town that may have what we need?

I would think if you went to any trailer place they would be able to help you out.

Ok. I asked my husband about this. He recommended this hitch: www.hitchsolutions.com/rapidhitch.htmlIt's rated at 10,000 lbs. It's aluminum so, it's not heavy either. It's pricey but might be worth it.

Thanks, Alisa -- I knew your hubby might be a good source. Wayne is off today and he's going to try to find something in town so that I can haul by Saturday (want to go to the Cowgirl Co-Op thing -- Alexa is dying to get her new horse out). If he can't find anything, then I'll order this.
Thanks!

Totally cool. See you Saturday at the Co-op. I am working tomorrow night (my day off) so that I can attend on Saturday.
