This Saturday, I went up to the Grand Opening of the Cowgirl Co-Op. Teresa and her cousin were there and Laura and Alexa showed up to test out Fox on the obstacles. I rode Muffin. My husband and son came out to hang with me. I'm glad they were there. Muffin was very good. He got to see some more new things. We did a little pole bending at a trot, bridges, we did the "Car wash" undersaddle this time, there is a jousting game, we did not joust but I grabbed the rings and carried them to the next position. Last time, Muffin jumped a mile and we dropped them. This time he was a good boy. We also worked on playing with a small flag on a pole. Muffin showed me how two sided he is. He is one of those horses that needs to lesson done on each side of his body. Classy is not this way, but Muffin is totally. I like going to this because it gives me ideas on things to create and work on at home. I hope to have some obstacles set up at home to play with and hopefully friends can come try them too. Teresa and River Teresa's cousin Brenda and Titan (Teresa's gelding) My son Kaleb, he is an obstacle Shannon working with Alexa and Fox Kaleb and a minature donkey

Ooh..great pictures Alisa!
We had a really fun day. We found out that Fox probably hasn't played on this kind of "stuff" before, but he learns really fast. At first he thought the car wash was going to eat him, but it didn't take him too long to go through that. He went over the bridges just fine and was a really good boy for the most part. We found out we really need to work on desensitizing him to things like garbage sacks! I should let Alexa tell you about that.
My doofus horse would cross the teeter-totter bridge just fine, but the other little bridge was a no-go. Shannon was very nice to help us for probably more than 30 minutes in getting him to go over that one. His usual modus operandi for evading anything he doesn't want to do is to scoot backwards, so he got a good lesson from Shannon about that and ended up quietly walking over the bridge (after lots of work on Shannon's part!).
We had to leave a little early because Alexa had to march in the Lilac parade with the Reardan Cheerleaders. It was a gorgeous day to be on the backside of Greenbluff, though. I just love that area. It was fun to see all of Jill's pretty horses.

This looks really great and I wish I could have been there but my horse is still too green and I'm too out of shape. Love reading about all you guys do and thought it was time to show my presence. Happy trails!

That does look like fun. When is the next one? I'm going to show Shiloh those pictures, too. I haven't told her about it yet because everytime there is one we have something planned.

Hi gals, this is Lou from the co-op. I'm really glad you had a good time - the weather was beautiful. I am interested in your feedback, and suggestions from anyone regarding new obstacles you'd like to try, events and activities that we could do at the co-op. Since we're just starting out - we can try out just about anything, as long as our insurance will cover it. Thanks again and I'm hoping to see folks at the Juried Horse Sale and horse seminars next weekend. I'll try and get some info on the sale on this website soon.

Happy trails! Hi Beachrider, You know what? As long as your horse is under control at halter, this would be a really great thing for him/her and you. You can do a lot of these obstacles at halter and it would be great ground work and exposure for your greenie. With my gelding, Muffin, I try most obstacles at halter first and then under saddle later. Glad you came out of the shadows and welcome!

Hi FlyingCowgirl, Great idea. I might just bring my horse to something like this. Can you tell when another might be? Right now my truck is broken so I have to get that fixed before I can go anywhere but I should be able to do that in the next month or so. Happy trails
