Hello Everyone: I am brand new to this site, and what a wonderful idea! Due to time constraints I had to give up horses while raising two boys. They are grown now, and I am back into doing what I love more than anything - riding horses! I went out and bought a wonderful quarter horse, a horse trailer, (still had all my tack), and I'm ready to load him up and ride the trails. I would love riding buddies! This is my first summer, and I am so anxious to meet people with the same love of horses and experiencing nature. I am a photographer, so my camera usually is nearby. I hope to be in the saddle and on the trail soon.

Hi cmiller! Welcome to the board. Always enjoy meeting new friends. Where are you located? We can probably organize a ride that you’d be able to join that would be near your location. - If you’re up for it, this Sunday we are riding at Riverside State Park - by Nine Mile Falls. See this topic for details. Photographer? COOL! Do you have a flickr account so we can see your photos? ;D - David P.S. I have to share too. flickr.com/highwayoflifeMy best of photos: Click

Hello! And thanks for posting. I'm in Cheney! Keep my horse on Murphy Road. Would love to try the Riverside ride, but have plans this weekend. Looking forward to meeting you. Have you ridden the Slavin Conservation area; great for bird photos. It is a short ride, but so close to Cheney. I have photos posted on My Shot through National Geographic. I travel to Yellowstone every year, and find it loaded with opportunities (love those wolves). Thanks again and don't forget me!

I have ridden at Slavin- if I have to ride alone that's the place I would haul to. I'm trying to think of where Murphy road is? I'm right in the town of Marshall.

Hi Cmiller,
I'm also in the Cheney area... out west near Tyler. We live out on a cattle ranch and have 800 acres to ride horses on. So, if you ever want to come out and ride here with me, your welcome to. The cows are not ours, so we don't bother them.

Boy, that would be great Alisa. Thanks for the invite. Coincidentally, tomorrow I'm going out to Jerri and Mike Cummings farm (I bet you know them), and introduce Cooper (the horse) to cows. They live out on Graham Road. You are so fortunate to have 800 acres - and I would love to come sometime to your ranch and meet you (and I would be there in a heartbeat). Have a great sunny day!

Hello 20xsweetcowgirl: Anytime you would like to ride at Slavin, let me know. Would love to tag along for a short ride. I can be there in 25 minutes. If you would like my phone number, let me know. Murphy is 3 miles west of Cheney. P.S. From the other site regarding "horse trainer," looks like we both know Jason Hicks, also shoes horses. Thanks for mentioning the missing period.

Actually I've never met Jason- I've been thinking about taking my mare there. I got his name and number from my farrier- Tully. I didn't realized that was your horse- Cooper? Is that right??
I'm selling my mare so I don't really want to put all the money into it.

Hi CMiller--I hope to be riding now that the weather is getting better. I wussed out through May...then got a new puppy/baby...so have been terribly neglecting the riding of my horses. They are fat and lazy right now. Oh, and I've been paying my daughter to clean stalls--so I've been even more checked out than ever! I need someone to kick my butt into gear. Any volunteers?!? I ride at Palisades and Riverside--hope to get out this week Monday, Wednesday or Thursday--or as many of those as I can. Weekends are usually bad for me, unfortunately.
PS. Do either of your boys like horses? Did they go to Cheney? I have kids at Cheney HS right now. A girl (18) and a boy (15).

Hi cmiller!
I'd love to join you and Katie sometime. I've never been to Slavin, but I'd be game! I live close to Riverside State Park, so usually ride there, but I'd like to check out some other areas this year.

Wow - very cool! What is also nice about Slavin, it is very accessible, very close, beautiful environment (birds, eagles, marshland, etc.), and I usually have time to also fit in the laundry, pull weeds, etc. In other words, is not an all-day affair. Hope to meet you soon!
