It's been a long 2 1/2 years since he slid into my lap, and now another huge milestone! I finally got on for a ride yesterday, sensing that he's bored with the stuff we've been doing and it was time to try something new. It was a short ride. I got on, got myself situated, asked him to move his hip over one step from each side, and then urged him forward. He stepped every which way but forward. He seemed to have forgotten his "walk on" cue. But my husband called him from the side of the round pen and he walked forward to visit, then he wandered to another area of the round pen. He backed up really nicely, walked forward again, and I called it good. I can't wait to try it again. Some of you have probably done this lots of times before, but this is my first time putting a first ride on a horse that was born here, and besides that he's just plain special. So I am very excited!

I think it's awesome that your on him. He's grown so fast (for me)... *LOL*
When I first rode Classy his feet were stuck like glue. I was alone in the pasture and my mom was standing on the porch watching me, but I didn't have any help getting him moving. Eventually he walked on. Sure is a funny predictament though!

I wish I had a little dressage whip. I think I might carry something with me next time to give him a little tap on the hiney. He knows what that means.
