Ok, who else went to the Trail Challenge? Did you compete? Or go to watch?
I checked out their prizes, lots of neat things. One of my goals in life is to win a belt buckle for some type of horse event. I checked out the buckles and they were cool... hmm... goal for next year? I saw lots of obstacles and lots of things to work on with my gelding. Mailbox, gates, bridges, sidepassing, dragging logs, leads, neck reining.... oh.... so much to work on!
I hope the IEBCH does this again next year.

I couldn't afford it, but I bet it was fun! Did they have a good turnout?

I think they did have a good turnout. There was a specific number that needed to be hit for them to come out even and I think they made a little profit, which is the point. I hope they chose to do it again next year.

I did go and rode in the Novice class. I just started riding trail challenges this year. My dependable QH who was an expert trail horse died last Sept. My Arabian that had been my #3 back up horse suddenly became my only horse. She really needs more exposure, then she too will be a good trail horse.
The challenges that they had were very good. They were mostly the type of things that you would actually come across on a real trail ride. I was not concerned with winning or even scoring well. I was only interested in helping my horse get better at handling the challenges.
The only negative on the ride was the planned but unannounced lunch break. All of the riders started at the same point which meant that only the first half got through before the administration including all of the judges decided to take a 45 minute lunch break. So all the riders in the back 1/3 of the group did not get started until after lunch. This was only bad in that it was not clearly announced that it would happen or when it would happen.
Otherwise a lot of fun.

Terry, are you part of the BCH? I will pass your comment on to the BCH, since this was their first Trail Challenge, I'm sure they would like to hear of improvements for the next. I'm probably going to join, just a matter of wanting to spend the money on the membership, right now I don't want to spend it. I think that I saw you there. We didn't speak, but I'm an Arab girl and I notice Arabs.

I am a member of BCH, but not the branch that put it on. I did mention my findings to the lady in-charge.
