What equestrian associations are you a member of?
Next friday, I'm going to re-up my Arabian Horse Association membership. I enjoying logging my riding hours on the Frequent Rider Program or as my husband has joked at me, the In-frequent Rider. But, with having just one horse, it's a lot easier to log the hours and get out riding.

I'm a member of the American Mustang and Burro Association. Need to renew my membership soon... Also a member of the Inland Empire Mustang Horse Club but of course there are no dues for that. I wish there was a Backcountry Horsemen chapter closer to me, I would absolutely join. I may join a local saddle club at some point, but I'm not into gaming or rodeo so I'm not sure if it's worth the monthly dues.
Does the AHA have an easy online form for logging hours or do you keep track of them on a sheet of paper and then turn it in later?

I'm a member of the Arabian Horse Association as well. I haven't been logging my rides, but I think I will start. Right now I right it down in my calendar to help keep track, but that would be easier I think to log them on the sight.

Andrea, yes AHA does have an easy format for logging hours. Then you get pins and prizes for each landmark time that you hit. I've gotten a pin for the first landmark and a pin + t-shirt for the second. Each one is worth a little more money.
So, I'm joining back up with them since I just have one horse now and he's Arabian. You know what? I am riding a lot more because I don't have to feel guilty by dividing my time between horses.

I was a member of AHA and did the frequent rider program it was fun and they send stuff at every hundred hours. I have not renewed my member ship since last year. I may.

Tiki, You should renew. When they changed their magazine format I sent them a letter about how much I liked it and they published my letter to the editor.

I renewed my membership, and signed up for the frequent rider program, and my daughter signed up as well! She was so excited about the program, that she promptly wanted to go ride her horse so she could log more hours!!

I wish I had a program like that I could join! No Arabs here though... I'll have to suggest it to our mustang group.
Alisa - I love your new picture! I wish I could come ride with you. Glad to hear you're getting out more now. I know how that goes, trying to figure out which horse to ride/work with. I don't think I could ever get down to one horse. Do you think Classy will get lonely? Any plans to buy him a pet goat or chicken or something?

Do you think Classy will get lonely? Any plans to buy him a pet goat or chicken or something? Here is a link to the AHA's program. I think that the APHA also has something similiar. It encourages the regular people who don't show, to do something and achieve milestones. www.arabianhorses.org/activities/incentiveprograms/frp.aspAndrea - I don't think I ever thought I could get to one horse. And even now I think about what's the next horse that I want to get. Not sure when I'll get another, hopefully not too soon. The goal was to reduce to one and save some money. Although, I am thinking about going to the horse sale this weekend. I want to see the tack go through, but if there is a nice little Arab, I might have a hard time. Right now Classy has Katie's horse Charlie. They are not together, but Charlie is hanging out for a couple weeks in the round pen so that Katie and I can go riding. I'm going to try to make a solid effort to do things with Classy, riding, brushing or just petting. I thought about a goat but not sure on that yet. Got a book from the library on goats.

Oh and Andrea, let's ride! Is there anywhere between you and me to ride? A nice middle meet up?

I like the idea of logging miles, too. Maybe I'll check that APHA site out.
Good idea, Andrea, to start one for Mustangs!! Maybe next year Beautiful can start logging miles. I talked to my farrier about her this year and he thinks she's a year behind in physical maturity, but he really likes her and thinks she'll do great hauling whoever up and down and around mountains. That was encouraging to hear.
Are you hauling now, Alisa?

I don't know of anywhere between here and there, darn it. I like riding at Riverside but I can't justify the expense in diesel right now...

I used to log my hours when I was in 4-H, back then you would get badges not sure what they do now.

I am going to renew my AHA membership too -- It might help motivate me to get Indy out and some more hours put on him. We were doing so well last year, and this year was a dud year for me as far as horsey goals (see your other post regarding that).
I had thought I had found the perfect home for him last winter, and then I got him back skin and bones and afraid of everything again. Poor guy -- at least I got him back and he didn't end up at the auction or worse. He's looking good now and once my foot gets out of the cast I'm going to be working with him again.

Just renewed my AHA and logged some of my riding hours. Can't remember everything, so I'm going to make a goal to ride more and be diligent on logging the hours. I only have 55 more hours until I hit the 250 milestone.

I'm a member of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA). Fox is registered as an Appendix Quarter Horse with the registry. I renewed my membership when I got him. I was a member of it before when I had Gulliver. Then I sold Gulliver and it expired. So now that I have Fox, I'm a member of it once again.
