Hey there!!
I was wondering if anyone was interested in going on vacations with their horse(s) next year??
Last year a bunch of ladies met up at the Silver Ridge Ranch in Easton, WA. We'll probably do another Ladies Getaway and then some other ones.
Just wondering who's interested and how far they are willing to travel, and if they prefer to camp or stay in a lodge.

Thinking of Leavenworth sometime in the Spring. There is a ranch there where you can stay and bring your horse. It's a beautiful town and a decent driving distance from both Spokane and the Seattle area, hoping to meet up with some friends from the Seattle area.
Teresa York is planning on doing a week-long Lewis and Clark trail ride sometime during the summer. We're hoping to join her on that ride.

I would love to go on a horse trip. I love Leavenworth it is beautiful up there by the mountains. I don't think I could do a whole week trip though maybe a long weekend would be great.

I would love to go too! We took our horses to the coast two summers ago, and I feel that it was just too long of a drive unless you were going to stay for at least a week or so.
Leavenworth sounds good!
I have an "internet" friend in Everett who goes to Silver Ridge Ranch a couple of times a year - maybe we could coordinate a ladies getaway and perhaps she could join us.

A long weekend would be great. I couldn't haul my mare all the way to the coast, she doesn't like the trailer that much! The farthest I've hauled her was to Zillah for a wine ride, and we had a blast! We rode through all the different wineries, it was very pretty! I'm hoping to have more time to trail ride this spring and summer. If I become brave enough, I plan on taking my 4 1/2 year old gelding on some trail rides. He'll be 5 in May. I rode him last weekend and after sitting for a week and a half, (because of the freezing weather!) he forgot that he was a trained riding horse! He thought he didn't need to listen to me, so we had a few words, and by the end we were both sweating, but he remembered he IS trained and does have to listen!

I would totally join you all at the Snake River Ride and Bed. She might be in Arizona for the winter, but you'd think she'd still be checking her email... Have you tried calling?
I'd love to do a long weekend of trail riding and camping, or even a week-long trip, depending on when it is. I was thinking about doing the John Wayne ride again, but not 100% sure yet. I'd prefer something more mountainous and treed than the stretch of the ride I did last year.
I'd haul within about 6 hours of Spokane to go wherever.

I think the Snake River Ride and Bed is most appealing.
Andrea, I sent a message via Facebook. I will try her email when my mind is a little more with it.... I'm not much of a phone person, in fact I hate the phone.

I would be interested in a horse vacation. I did this last July with 3 of my girlfriends and had a blast. We didn't have to travel far as we found a place to stable our horses just outside of Loon Lake. It was the Coyote Ridge Ranch in the heart of the Colville National Forest. The rates were reasonable, the facility was spotless, treated us and our horses like royalty and even cleaned out our horse trailers while we were out riding! We stayed 2 nights in a little motel in Loon Lake and split the cost. We were only 9 miles from where our horses were stabled. Hopefully by next summer, Coyote Ridge Ranch will have completed their remodeling of their house and can provide overnight accommodations at the ranch. Here's the link to their facebook page: www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=142004109165112&set=a.142004029165120.18009.141466145885575I thought I'd share this with you all as most people don't realize there is a place close to Spokane for horse weekend getaways with endless areas to ride. I highly recommend it and am looking forward to going back next summer.

Wow that sounds really nice not far to drive either. It would be nice if the house was available to rent out for the group. I've always wanted to ride in the Colville forest.

I would love to find some new riding partners. I am riding alone much of the time and will be starting a new Peruvian this summer. I am up for some trips with my tried and true Mustang also. Right now I have a two horse trailer and a camper that sleeps two. So would love to have another gal join me and share expenses.

ssblake - there's a Mustang Club in spokane - great people to go riding with. We meet the last Thursday of every month at Perkins, Mission and Argonne. We usually get together for a trail ride every few months when the weather's good. Where do you live? Back on topic - has anyone considered going to Lakeview Ranch up by Odessa? www.blm.gov/or/resources/recreation/site_info.php?siteid=275 They have stalls and corrals for the horses. I think at least 4 stalls and 8-10 corrals. The riding is out in the sagebrush and you come upon all kinds of little lakes. I went up there a few years back when Tonka was still pretty green and we didn't have much time to ride - we were volunteering for a mustang adoption there. I've wanted to go back ever since. You'd want to go no later than May to avoid rattlesnakes. I was there at the end of April and it was gorgeous and warm during the day, frosty at night. The guy who looks after the place is really nice. Here are a couple photos to give an idea what it's like:

Looks like fun! I'm pretty much game for anything, as long as I have enough notice to get off work. My goal this year is ride as much as possible and try different things. So if people let me give me enough advance notice, I am game for just about anything!

An Idea for you ladies, Farragut State Park, near Athol Idaho. It's not as grand as going up to the big Mtns but as far as organizing a group camp get together with a range of rider & horse abilities it's a pretty fun place. 1) close to Spokane, so more persons could make the trip. 2) camp has log corrals for each site and if all the sites are taken the ranger allows over flow camping in the field if you have portable corral or use high line poles. 3) camp has horse h20 and a new pit toilet and hot showers 2 miles down the road at Gilmore camp. 4) next to camp has a large out door area and obstacles from the xtreme horse challenge to play with. 5) no mater what the weather is the trails hold up very well, a maze of pine and cedar forest trails that are easy to get lost in but your never really lost. We would ride for 2-3 hours in the morning have lunch then ride again for several days in a row and never go the same way twice. last point: if you want to go there don't go memorial wkend but do book reservations way early, like now! parksandrecreation.idaho.gov/parks/farragut.aspx

Farragut is a great idea. I've never been there, I keep forgetting it exists, but I hear from a lot of people that it's really nice and the riding is easy.
Harry - I love the photos of your Lakeview trip!
