I'm just curious. What kind of Saddle Pad do you use and why? I'm currently reading through this article on Saddle Pads and it's pretty interesting so far. Check it out: www.5starequineproducts.com/SaddlePadsArticle.htmlFor a while, I was making pads with my mom for Fallis Balanced Ride saddles. People loved them. My Aunt talked us into making them. We broke my dad's Upholstery Machine making one (just took thick of material to sew through) and that was the end of that. I'm interested in the Clinton Anderson pad, but ouch! It's sooo much money. What do you use?

I use different pads for different horses and saddles, but generally, I have a very basic pad--Billy Cook--fleece bottom. I tried to find a picture of one online, but couldn't. Splint boots--we were talking about those today, but I couldn't find the exact ones I had of those either. These are something like them, I guess: Or check out this link, these are pretty much them. www.doversaddlery.com/all-purpose-galloping-horse-boots/p/X1-04176/cn/1649/Attachments:

As for Boots. I use Pegasus Airboots. I like them because the completely surround the lower leg and offer support. They only have two pieces of velcro to deal with, so they are very easy to put on. Plus... they use my horse in their advertising www.pegasusnw.net/

HD air ride pads (20x, wrangler) are a good pad that will last a LONG time. I've used mine a LOT and it's still like new. That said, it's not very smooshy, and it's not very thick. I got a softer contoured pad - Classic Equine ESP www.smithbrothers.com/classic-equine-esp-striped-contoured-33-x-38-saddle-pad/p/X3-19057/cn/559/ - and I like it a lot better, but the felt on the bottom is pilling. Not cool in a pad that expensive. I think my next purchase will be a simple, good quality contoured felt pad.

I have a scalloped edge felt pad that I bought at a 4H tack sale when I was about 15 years old. It still works great, nice and thick and I haven't noticed any issues. I do like the felt pads. I also have this orange thing that my grandpa bought. It was brand new in the package for many years until I finally decided to use it. It's just your average fleece pad, very thick. The thing I don't like is that when I go to mount Muffin, the saddle slips with this pad. Muffin is very round.

Those round horses are difficult. Our appy is like that. Has anyone ever tried one of those Tacky Too pads?

I have used the tacky pad my horse hated it and I found the saddle still slid until sweaty
