May 29th to 30th (or 31st) (however long you want to camp) Get together at an old Ranch with friends and family. Has a heated outhouse and now has corrals for the horses, has water and many rides available including water falls. Katie and I went on this last year and camped and it was alot of fun...and hot! Bring your horses and camping gear and the kids too! Nice big creek! Several lakes in the area. www.bentler.us/eastern-washington/recreation/escure-ranch.aspxWe understand this is Memorial day weekend but this is the earliest weekend we have available (we must go early in the year due to vicious Rattlesnakes in the area)

this sounds like a lot of fun. How do you organize the camping? Do you have to make separate reservations? Would anyone consider sharing their trailer? My husband fly-fishes and I have a 7-year-old daughter who loves to camp, so it might be a great way to spend the weekend for all of us!

Is this ride open to anyone? I'm curious to know if we need reservations as well. I might be able to come. It looks fun!

This ride is open to anyone......it is first come first serve. Invite your friends. We can all go together or split off (most likely split off into separate groups depending on the amount of people).
Kids are very welcomed!!!!!!
Patty- I could probably arrange to pick you up.

Hey Katie you might want to check with Teresa on this she mentioned a limit or there was a fee. I told her to count Isabella in and if we needed we would split the fee. But maybe that was a different ride but I thought it was this one. But I know it was for everyone but she might want some # I don't know.

Would it be alright to come for one day? I live near here and our motorhome is pretty much toast anyway. Do I need to make reservations to ride for a day?

If I come (and it's still a pretty big "if") my husband would most likely be with me.

I'm still interested. How do we make the reservation and pay $$? I'm also wondering about the corral set-up. I have no idea how Cisco will react with horses he doesn't know, if we're sharing corrals. He is the boss horse at our barn, but was in the middle of the pack at his old barn. I don't want anyone getting hurt if he decides they're looking at him funny, or vice-versa. I've never camped with a horse so any feedback from the more experienced folks is very welcome!

Last year before the corrals were built we just tied the horses to the trailers.
I'm going to make a car trip down there maybe next with with FlyingCowgirl to check out the corrals and the drive. I've only been there once and I wasn't driving.
I will let you know more about fees.

Also Patty- I advise to get a Hay BAG (not net). Big R and Aslin Finch sell them.

This sounds like fun! My grandpa was the one who was in charge of putting up the new coralls and everything there this last fall! it makes it so much better and easier to camp!

Lisa and I took a drive down this morning!!!! Here are the correct directions (we had a wrong one and ended up in Ewan!!)
Trail Access: Take 1-90 to Sprague exit (245) go under freeway and head south through Sprague on Hwy 23 for 11 miles. You turn right on Davis Road for 7.5 miles (past grain silos) , and go left at Jordon Knot Road for 2 miles. Jordon Knot Road crosses Rock Creek. You then take a right at the Rocky Creek Management area and drive 2.5 miles to trail head.
This area is remote- no cell phone service (at least not for Verizon & AT&T).

OMG that must have taken you a while to figure out! How was the road? I wish there was cell phone service oh well I'm looking forward to the trip. I actually thought it was next weekend I was getting ready for it and then I realized everything said May I'm totally a month off. Do you think we will still be good for no snakes??? This hot weather isn't helping with that. But I rode today so I'm not complaining much. Thanks guys for checking it out!! It is a great day to be outside.

I wish there was cell phone service oh well I'm looking forward to the trip. Well, there is a bit of service, but you'd have to drive up the road and climb top a little hill. I had some service on the road, but I'm sure on the hill you'd have great service. So, for those that are just unable to function without your cell... there is an option Also, there are only 2 corrals. And who knows how many are really planning to come out? Also, who knows if others are planning an outting there? Not sure. My two horses are good on the trailer and it will only be one night out there. Basically with snakes, don't bother them, they won't bother you. Don't reach into dark places that you cannot see first. Stay alert. I spoke with a Park Ranger and in his 15 years, he had seen only a couple bites. Some were from kids messing with snakes and the other was a drunk, running around barefoot in the middle of the night.

I'm still trying to decide if Alexa and I can come. I wish my husband could come. I hate leaving him at home to fend for himself and take care of all the other animals. Anyone bringing any dogs? I think if I could take one or two of the dogs off of his hands, that would help.

I guess if your dog listens well I don't see it being a problem. I'm not bringing Bailey since he's still learning- I don't trust him at all times.

Well, I probably should leave them at home. Ginger listens and would probably not be a problem, but you never know -- away from home she might not be as obedient.

I'd like to meet up with someone Saturday morning too...thinking more like I'll be going, at least for Saturday and then possibly camp just Saturday night.
Are there campfire rings to make a fire? I need to go dig through our old camping stuff and see if we still have a little stove.

Maybe the Sprague or Tyler Exits are the best places to meet at. Which way will you be coming Laura? I think Teresa goes to Waukon rd and gets on the Freeway at Tyler exit?
What time are we thinking? I'm thinking meet sometime between 9 and 10??? Remember we have all day!!!! LOL

Not sure how I missed this topic. >< I tried to find the location based on your directions, I think I'm close, but I don't have the exact location from my end point in this map, can you drag the 'B' to the correct location and save it for us? Is there a reservation or any other fee that's required? - I don't know for sure if we can come, but I'd like to try. If we come, there would be 3 guys, so your husbands will have company. maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Sprague,+WA&daddr=Unknown+road&geocode=FT6-0QIdLtb3-CkxKXDQQ_ieVDGRS1_HXsxo3g%3BFXTpzQIdk2n4-A&hl=en&mra=ls&sll=47.046981,-117.93731&sspn=0.012501,0.023818&ie=UTF8&z=11
