Hi Guys! Looking for others w/9yrdaughter2 ride&4H

I have a 9 year old daughter and we live in Colbert, about 10 minutes from DeerPark. I grew up riding Western, but have been learning Dressage. What a challenge! But it has been fun! I have a 9 year old daughter who loves horses as well, and we're looking for a 4H club or other kids around her age for her to ride with and share her interest in horses. She had a scare last year where she saw 2 older girls fall off and were hurt, so now she's become a timid. So I'm hoping that if she was around other kids closer to her age, it might help her regain her confidence and just be fun again for her. We have a 1/2 Arab/Paint mare, and a young Arab gelding (who is learn dressage with me). I would love to do some trail rides this summer. I'm thinking of doing the Fishtrap ride,( if I can get my old mare in shape before then). I look forward to reading about everyone and hopefully meeting some of you. I fanyone has suggestions for 4H clubs it would be appreciated!

There's Bits n Spurs 4H club in Deer Park. The main leader is Jan Strong- she's going through a tragedy in the family right now, I'll see if there's another contact.

Hi welcome, I'm Alisa. I live out near FishTrap. Have you done the ride before? It's fairly flat with small hills and loads of rocks. So you either need to have a shod horse or a horse that is conditioned to ride in that terrain. I ride my horses unshod. There is an extension on the ride that you can take, but I know that last year I was too pooped to continue on. Of course, my Arab was really prancy for the whole ride.

Thank you for all the info. I was told the Bits and Spurs was closed to new members right now. And good to know about the Fish Trap. My mare would not do well with the rocks unless I shod her. I'll make sure to keep that in mind. I'm still not sure is she's going to be up to it by then. This weather keeps ruining my riding plans!
